Jose Tomas is a graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA) at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston, Massachusetts. Upon completing the program, he was awarded a Doctoral degree in Acupuncture in Integrative Health (DAIH). During his time at NESA, he was involved with the advancement of acupuncture through research and worked on several projects examining the effectiveness of acupuncture. Past projects include the examination of acupuncture for cognitive impairment, acupuncture as an effective form of treatment for veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) through the Department of Defense (DOD) and the use of Tai Chi as an alternative form of post surgery cardiac rehabilitation.

Jose enjoys sharing his knowledge of acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and has lectured small groups internationally through the Global Acupuncture Project (GAP). He is currently licensed as an acupuncturist in the State of Arizona and certified nationally for both acupuncture and Chinese herbs through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Jose currently works with local tribal communities providing traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) services, as well as a private practice. He enjoys providing results in conditions dealing with pain, oncology supportive care, inflammation, and digestive disorders. He also, provides instruction of movement using Tai Chi principles and Qigong as a meditative practice.

He decided to become an acupuncturist because of a long-time connection to Eastern philosophy and the understanding of harmony in nature. When the natural harmony of the body is disrupted the effect of pain or disease will occur. He found that acupuncture and herbs are an efficient way to gain balance within the body, alleviating several disorders and diseases.

When he is not treating patients, working on research projects, studying advance acupuncture and Chinese herbal methods, Jose enjoys kicking a soccer ball, finding local areas to cliff jump, swimming, and sharing time with his family.
